Hillside Grade School’s fourth grade classes proved themselves to be math champions in the recent Magma Solutions Competition (Elementary School), hosted by Magma Math, a K-12 math platform. Nicole Andrade’s class earned first place in New York State, while Lauren Bucchio’s class secured second place.
Over a two-week period, students worked diligently both during class and after school to solve as many math problems as possible. Success was determined by the number of correct solutions completed, with students also required to show their work.
As the first-place winners, Ms. Andrade’s class received a pizza party, Magma swag and a $50 Amazon gift card to purchase school supplies.
