In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, Garden City Park School students recently welcomed members of the local Garden City Park fire department for an educational visit focused on fire safety and emergency preparedness.
Firefighters shared important tips on what to do in the event of a fire, including the importance of staying calm, exiting a building safely and calling for help once in a secure location. Students learned how to make themselves visible to firefighters during an emergency by calling out, making noise and staying low if trapped. During the presentation, firefighters also emphasized the importance of establishing a designated family meeting place outside the home.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain a firsthand look at a fire truck. Firefighters gave tours of the vehicle, highlighting the specialized equipment they use to respond to emergencies and keep the community safe.
The visit provided students with valuable safety knowledge while offering an engaging and memorable experience during Fire Prevention Week.
