Garden City Park School celebrated the incredible milestone of its 100th anniversary with a special “Journey Back to 1926” experience on June 22.

Sixth grade students brought history to life by leading interactive stations that recreated life a century ago, including a music store, seamstress and tailor shop, post office, radio station, dance hall, Yankee Stadium, toy store and schoolhouse. Students in grades K-5 each received a train ticket to travel back in time as they visited each station and experienced what life was like in 1926.

Upon entering the gymnasium to the sounds of live jazz music performed by a group of sixth grade musicians, younger students stepped into the past. They practiced cursive writing in the schoolhouse, crafted kazoos at the music store, learned popular dance steps from the 1920s, and played classic games such as marbles and jacks at the toy store.
