New Hyde Park Road School sixth grader Alex Lian recently earned third place in the Individual Competition at the Grace Quinlan Memorial Math Tournament, sponsored by the Nassau County Mathematics Teachers Association. Ms. Quinlan, a longtime resident of New Hyde Park, was a teacher in the NHP-GCP District.
More than 300 students from across Long Island participated in the annual tournament. After achieving a perfect score of 10 out of 10 in the initial round and advancing to a tiebreaker, Lian secured an impressive third-place finish overall.
