The district recently hosted its second annual Financial Literacy Family Fun Night, offering an engaging and educational after-school experience for students and their families.
Students attended alongside a family member and rotated through interactive stations, earning a homework pass upon completion of six stations. Activities included interviewing an adult about their first job, comparing mortgage rates and visiting the “Book Nook,” which featured financial literacy-themed books. Other stations were the Go Fish Financial Literacy card game, Financial Literacy Jeopardy, coin-matching challenges, a money exchange dice game and “Decisions, Decisions,” where students allocated $100 among the categories of Invest, Spend, Give and Save. Participants also enjoyed Money Bingo and a Financial Literacy Headbandz game.
In addition to the hands-on activities, students and families gained valuable insights from representatives of Citizens Bank, FourLeaf Federal Credit Union, Jovia Financial Credit Union and financial advisers from PFS Investments.
By the end of the evening, attendees shared that the event was both enjoyable and informative. The Financial Literacy Family Fun Night was organized and hosted by the district’s Math Support and Financial Literacy teachers Christine Margro, Eileen Prymaczek and Susan Schlueck.
