Audiences were treated to a lively theatrical experience as New Hyde Park Road School hosted the district’s recent production of Disney’s “The Lion King Jr.,” made possible through its ongoing partnership with local theater organization Plaza Theatricals.
Leading up to the performances, fifth and sixth graders from across the district devoted weeks to preparing for the show, taking on both principal and ensemble roles. Throughout the process, students explored the fundamentals of theater, including stage movement, timing and character development, gaining an appreciation for what goes into a polished production.
A series of upbeat musical numbers brought energy and excitement to the stage, reflecting the dedication of the cast. Crowd-pleasing songs like “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” helped bring the beloved story to life.
