Teacher reading to excited students.

To help inspire a love of reading and in honor of National Reading Month, Garden City Park School proudly hosted its annual Read Aloud Week from March 9-13, welcoming special guests to share stories with students.

Among the many guest readers were Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Morrison-Raptis, Principal Areyana Schmitt, Assistant Principal Meghann Tedesco, New York State Senator Jack Martins, Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena, Honorable Judge Teresa Corrigan, police officer Todd Atkin, librarians from Hillside Public Library and chairpersons from New Hyde Park Memorial High School. All brought books to life and made the experience even more memorable.

As part of the celebration, students were also encouraged to complete five activities from a reading challenge board. Options included “Read a book by your favorite author,” “Read a library book,” “Read a nonfiction book,” and “Read with a friend or sibling,” all designed to make reading both fun and engaging.

Read Aloud Week was organized by reading teacher Sara Eivazi and school librarian Sheri Susa.
