Sixth Grade Science Fairs

Across the district, New Hyde Park-Garden City Park’s young scientists proudly showcased their research and innovative projects during the recent Sixth Grade Science Fairs.

Students had the opportunity to work independently or in pairs, choosing topics that sparked their curiosity and reflected their personal interests. Beginning in December, they spent weeks researching, designing and refining their projects, dedicating time both in school and at home to bring their ideas to life. They were guided and supported every step of the way by sixth grade science teachers Ms. Donovan at New Hyde Park Road School, Ms. Garvey at Hillside Grade School, Ms. Geddish at Garden City Park School and Ms. LaBruna at Manor Oaks School.

Administrators and families were invited to attend the fairs, where they explored the exhibits and celebrated the students’ creativity and hard work. Select projects from each school will be highlighted at the board of education meeting on April 20.

“Our students demonstrated strong research skills, thoughtful experimentation and the ability to clearly present and explain their projects to others,” District Math/Science Instructional Coach Lara Holzkamp said.
