The district is pleased to announce that Colleen Topping has been appointed as principal of Manor Oaks School, effective Jan. 12.
Topping is a highly respected member of the NHP-GCP community, with 20 years of dedicated service, including the past three years as an assistant principal. Most recently, she served as an assistant principal for both Manor Oaks School and New Hyde Park Road School. During her time as an assistant principal, she planned and implemented several impactful schoolwide initiatives, including One Book, to strengthen school culture. She coordinated professional development for teachers focused on differentiated instruction, resulting in increased student engagement and improved academic performance across all grade levels. In addition, she actively participated in districtwide committees and professional learning communities to remain current with educational trends and best practices. She began her career in the district as a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Manor Oaks School.
“Mrs. Topping is a familiar and trusted leader in our district,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Morrison-Raptis said. “Her deep understanding of the Manor Oaks community, strong instructional leadership and commitment to students make her an excellent choice to lead the school during this transition.”
Topping received her bachelor of science in elementary education from Oneonta State University, her master of science in special education from Adelphi University and an advanced certificate in educational leadership from Long Island University.
