Annual Turkey Trot and Food Drive

To support local families in need, Manor Oaks School hosted its 14th annual Turkey Trot and Food Drive. Organized each year by physical education teacher Lisa Santos, this beloved tradition brings together students and staff for a fun day of energetic running, festive costumes and community service.

This year, the school saw a tremendous outpouring of generosity, as 30 families received donations from the food drive.

On Nov. 10, the school hosted the Turkey Trot, which was a race at different distances for each grade level, as well as a noncompetitive Fun Run. Adding to the festive atmosphere was the Thanksgiving-themed costume contest. Students came dressed to impress, representing everything from turkeys and butter to a Thanksgiving Day parade reporter and balloon handler. The winners of the race and costume contest earned an extra physical education class for their creative efforts.

“We extend a heartfelt thank you to all participants, PTA volunteers and donors who made the 14th annual Turkey Trot a resounding success,” Ms. Santos said.
