The District-Wide School Safety Plan (as required by the SAVE Law – Safe Schools Against Violence in Education – Commissioner of Education Regulation 155.17) has been established to provide for the safety, health and security of both students and staff and allows for input from the entire school community. This particular component of Project SAVE is a comprehensive planning effort that addresses prevention, mitigation, protection, response and recovery with respect to a variety of emergencies that may occur in the school district and its component school buildings.
The plan has been updated to include the newly required components related to Desha's Law. Desha's Law is a New York State law that requires public schools to have a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) in their safety plans. Schools must have a clear plan to respond to a student or staff member experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, including using the right personnel and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
