Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Morrison-Raptis was recently recognized as an award recipient at the Shanti Fund’s Gandhi Jayanti Celebration. This annual event commemorates the birthday anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Dr. Morrison-Raptis received this recognition for her dedication to promoting peace, service and the values of Gandhi. For the past two years, New Hyde Park-Garden City Park students have participated in the Shanti Fund Peace Artworks Contest and have had their artworks selected to be displayed in the Shanti Fund calendars.
As an honoree, Dr. Morrison-Raptis received the book “Mahatma: Gandhi’s Life in Colour,” a plaque, and proclamations from Ed Romaine and Nick LaLota.
