With the help of a dedicated student guide, New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Union Free School District gave a warm welcome to its newest teachers, making their first steps into the community both personal and memorable, during New Teacher Orientation.

New Hyde Park Road School student Lucas Wu served as the teachers’ tour guide and led the group on a school bus tour of all four buildings, offering introductions to the district’s values, educational practices and community spirit along the way.

The informative day culminated with a delicious pizza lunch, attended by Lucas, the new staff, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Morrison-Raptis, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kim LaRegina, Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Transportation Kim Levy and Director of Technology Jennifer Scamell.

The newest staff members are: Kara Gerbosi, resource room teacher at Manor Oaks School; Matthew Jackson, psychologist at Garden City Park School and New Hyde Park Road School; Stefanie Lowental, part-time reading teacher at Manor Oaks School; Mario Mannarino, orchestra teacher at Hillside Grade School and Manor Oaks School; Larissa Mistretta, third grade teacher at Hillside Grade School; Julia Pohlmann, self-contained teacher at New Hyde Park Road School; and Stephanie Redin, reading teacher at Manor Oaks School.
