March Board Meeting Highlights Student Talent and Voices

The district recognized Music in Our Schools Month with a special performance during the board of education meeting on March 10.

Garden City Park School fifth grader Katalina Fung, an All-County and LISFA violinist, performed “Douze petits Duos” with orchestra teacher Alyssa Budzynski. Fung also attends the Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music, where she performs regularly at Queens College.

Following the duet, New Hyde Park Road School’s Student Council members shared initiatives and programs available at their school. A “Welcome to Road School” video – filmed by the students – was premiered. The video features staff welcoming new students and families to the school community, expressing that they are “on this ROAD together.” The video offers captions in several languages for accessibility to all.
