fifth graders in Lindsay Tengco and Crista Larock’s classes

Manor Oaks School fifth graders in Lindsay Tengco and Crista Larock’s classes displayed their biome projects to their peers in fourth grade on March 15.

Paired in groups, the students created Biome Boxes to represent the five main types of biomes and areas located in the Western Hemisphere, such as aquatic, grasslands, forests, deserts and tundra. The project was part of their social studies unit on settlers and how they chose certain environments to live. There was a tie-in to science, as well, as the students were simultaneously learning about ecosystems.
