I know that you have already received information about our district’s use of the online program called FASTT Math for students (starting in second grade) so that they can practice basic math facts. The goal of the program is to help students recall basic facts quickly and accurately. This practice will give your child a solid foundation for more complex mathematical skills and concepts.
Using this program at home as part of daily math practice (for approximately 10-15 minutes for at least 5 days per week/ one lesson and one game) is vital in promoting fluency with math facts. This program individualizes instruction based on your child’s needs. Research has shown that students get fluent faster by practicing what they’ve learned through engaging and motivating math practice and games like the ones offered in this program.
The FASTT Math online program is also a great way to increase the home-school connection because parents are able to watch their child’s progress with math facts.
As a reminder, you can access FASTT Math online. Go to our district’s website at www.nhp-gcp.org and select For Students on the left side of screen. Then select Fastt Math Home Access in the center screen. Your child will login using his/her login name with the password student1.
If you do not have a computer at home, please let us know.
